NHS Oxford Health - Online Training Records

Training booking and management system

The Learning and Development department at Oxford Health manage and provide training at the Trust. Lunarmill was asked to design and develop a bespoke database driven software application to manage staff training records and ESR data. The application allows members of staff to login and view their training requirements, book onto training sessions, manage their HR and personal details, book team members onto training and more.

We listened

We met with key stakeholders and managers to discuss how the Trust managed its training requirements at the time and how they saw a bespoke software application either replacing or enhancing what they already had.

We pondered

Having understood the main goals and requirements from the Trust we were then able to carefully formulate our recommendation that best fit the various considerations.

We proposed

We then produced a document called a functional specification. This document described the design of the training management software solution in detail. The document included screen designs, use case scenarios and more. This document was then approved by staff at the Trust.

We fixed

We then set about building the software based on the design described in the specification document. The stakeholders at the Trust were given access to the system as it was being built to view its progress and make suggestions and changes where appropriate.

We support

After putting the system live on their internal intranet, we continue to support the trust by developing and refining the software further. We also provide a general level of consultancy and advice to the trust on many IT related issues.

Functionality

User management, PDF training record, Google Maps integration for venues and more.

Technology used

SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 4.0 C# and the AJAX Control Toolkit

"Lunarmill did an excellent job, we've saved so much staff time."
